CPO - Zinger® Folding Power Chair

I’ve been driving my Zinger since 2021 and am still having a love affair with it. I use it mainly in larger buildings like Costco were I have to do a lot of walking. I always have at least two or more people asking me about it and where they can get one. It is so maneuverable turning around in the isles is a breeze. With its speed I am in and out of the stores in half the time I used to spend. It fits in the back of my car very compactly.

I owned this chair for about four years. I love the way it drives. Quite zippy. There are drawbacks. You need use of both hands to steer which means carrying things can be a challenge. The beeping when you go in reverse is annoying. If fat, but I’m not a dump truck. But this chair is fast and agile on smooth floors. Terrific for travel or outings to the store, appointments or a roll down the street. Not great for gravel or grass. I now own the Zoomer Chair. It’s a little bit slower, but it has solid wheels that never go flat. Both fit easily in the truck of most cars/uber, etc.

I have mixed feelings on this chair. The good fast speed. Pretty comfy but would recommend extra padding if you are an amputee and sit on it a lot. The bar under the seat gets uncomfortable with weight resting on it. The weight is not bad when lifting it in and out of your truck. It folds down to a compact height of about 8 inches with the pull cable on the back of the chair.

The bad… to me the worst part is the drive gears on it. It is not direct drive so the gears sit on top of the tires instead on in the hub. This means depending on how much you use it you might need to replace tires $120 about once a year though on my chair the left tire goes down faster than the right. Tubes I replace about every other time at 80 a pair. You can prolong life slightly by swapping tires around. This drive setup also means the chair is horrible on wet ground.

The diode in the trigger assembly is also problematic. It uses a magnet to contact the diode to tell the chair when you want to go. Over the course of 8 years I have had to replace it 2x now. That’s $120 each time. More frustrating at this point though is that I have been informed that Journey no longer ships replacement parts to my home state all though I am in the United States and FedEx and UPS not to mention all other companies still deliver here. So at this time it is nothing more than a push chair.
